By purchasing this watch, customers can help to make a difference to many lives around the world. To continue its backing of this great cause, OMEGA will donate a portion of all Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” sales to the work of Orbis International. That comforting touch was the inspiration for the Orbis Teddy Bear design stamped on the caseback of the Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” watch and the blue central seconds hand that includes a special Orbis Teddy Bear counter-weight. One way that OMEGA supports Orbis is by providing a cuddly teddy bear for every young patient who undergoes a life-changing treatment. Her experiences were captured in a documentary titled "The Hospital in the Sky" in which she describes the Flying Eye Hospital as "an aircraft that can perform miracles". The long-time OMEGA ambassador visited the Orbis International team two years ago in Peru and was deeply moved to see how the lives of the young patients were changed by the work of the Orbis healthcare professionals. Presley Gerber's role in the unveiling of the watch is fitting, as the charity is very close to his mother Cindy Crawford's heart. Aboard its Flying Eye Hospital, Orbis has successfully carried out programs in more than 90 countries across the globe and, not only has it performed millions of medical and optical treatments, the organisation has also dedicated itself to training new eye care professionals. Since 2011, OMEGA and Orbis have shared a commitment to delivering high-level eye care to some of the world's most remote regions. The watch has a stainless steel bracelet and is driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Calibre 3330. The indexes are rhodium-plated while the hands are also rhodium-plated or varnished Orbis blue. The sun-brushed blue dial includes horizontal, light-blue oval subdials and a vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock. The OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” watch features a stainless steel case and bezel with a tachymeter scale on a blue aluminium ring. To celebrate World Sight Day on October 12th, OMEGA is proud to unveil a specially created model from its new Speedmaster 38 mm collection that supports the brand’s partnership with Orbis International. Watch aficionados and aficionadas alike can find vintage Omega watches today on 1stDibs.Just days after joining the OMEGA family, Presley Gerber takes on a role that would make his mother Cindy Crawford very proud: the unveiling of the Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” Worn by Buzz Aldrin during the 1969 Apollo 11 lunar mission, it’s the only watch certified by NASA for extravehicular activity (space walks) - and, as far as we know, the only one approved by the Russian space agency, too. The first chronograph to display its tachymeter scale on the bezel instead of the dial for easier readability, it was quickly adopted by engineers and scientists. Nevertheless, the most famous Omega by far is the Speedmaster, introduced in 1957. Thanks in part to its rugged reputation and Omega’s links to the British military, it became James Bond’s watch of choice in 1995, appearing in GoldenEye and every succeeding Bond movie it is set to return in 2021’s No Time to Die. Developed as a dive watch, the Seamaster proved its durability at high altitudes and freezing temperatures, as well. In 1948, it launched the versatile Seamaster. These commissions further strengthened Omega’s commitment to ensuring its products’ reliability under extreme conditions. In 1917, the British Royal Flying Corps designated Omega as an official supplier, and during World War II it became the principal watch supplier for the British forces and their allies. The Brandts called their movement the Omega, and as its popularity spread, they changed their company’s name to that of its flagship product. Not only was it highly accurate, but every part was replaceable, making it easy for any professional to service. This Omega Speedmaster - COAXIAL CHRONOMETER CHRONOGRAPH Orbis Edition watch has a 38mm stainless steel case. His sons Louis-Paul and César took over after his death, and in 1894, the pair developed an intriguing new movement. The house’s origins date to 1848, when Swiss watchmaker Louis Brandt first set up shop. But the universal love for vintage Omega watches isn't confined to astronomers, and there’s more to the company’s heritage than the story of the Moonwatch. It’s a celebrated part of Omega lore that the brand’s Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was the first watch to make a lunar landing.
